Michel Morissette’s story
Michel Morissette entered the medical world by studying pharmacy at Université Laval in Quebec City. There, he completed a 4 year training.
He then practiced pharmacy for 8 years and operated a small pharmacy in a neighbourhood in Hull, Gatineau.
Even though Michel quickly recognized the benefits of using certain essential medications (antibiotics, insuline, antihypertensives, etc.), his initial enthusiasm started waning when he realized that prescribed medicine for health problems, especially chronic disorders, did not truly heal the patients. They did indeed relieve the symptoms, but very rarely tackled the root cause.
The “illness” continued to evolve regardless of the medication. The patients would need even more drugs, making the side effects multiply as well. In the end, they would end up needing various medications for the rest of their life. Michel says: “I was convinced that the body had the capacity to retrieve a better natural state of equilibrium or to defend itself. That is, if we gave it the chance! That, however, was obviously not the medical approach I had studied”.
So, he started researching natural forms of medicine and healing methods. It is his meeting with a French homeopathic doctor that opened the door to homeopathy.
Over the course of three years, Michel studied at the Institut des thérapeutiques naturelles de Montréal founded by this French medical doctor, where he acquired his first diploma in homeopathy. This educational experience deeply changed the way he viewed illness and even human beings.
He then sold his pharmacy and devoted himself to the practice of homeopathy while undertaking studies in Chinese medicine.
At the end of the 1990s, he completed a 3rd training course and acquired a diploma in acupuncture, hence cumulating 10 years of studies and training in the health field.
Over the course of the next 20 years, his desire of learning and educating himself will also bring him to study medical qigong, chinese herbology and natural health products. He also received a 2nd diploma in homeopathy from CEDH, an international school of homeopathic training for healthcare professionals.
The province of Ontario has regulated and officialized homeopathic practice by creating the College of Homeopaths of Ontario. Michel is a proud member since 2016.
